classroom

Unlike many of you fellow teachers, I have now completed my first full week of school! I started with my firsties last Friday. Now, this is my first time in first grade and I must say, I now know that they learn LOADS in first! I have been in second, where they entered being about to follow most directions, sit in their seat, sit on the carpet, walk down the halls, and many other small things that I took for granted... needless to say, they have a lot to learn!! I am soo excited about watching them grow throughout the year!! I am LOVING first grade!!!! And y'all, I'm not kidding when I say I have the BEST team EVER! I just can't believe how blessed I am to end up somewhere so amazing!!
Here is a peak into my classroom this year. The theme of my room is owls. I have been a total Pinterest addict all summer, so you will probably recognize many ideas that I have translated into my classroom.

In the background you might notice a boy's sign. Yes that is a boy's bathroom... and I have a girl's... I mean, WHAT!?!?! I was so thrilled!!

We are bucket fillers!

"Word Watching" for our word wall. We will put the words under their correct house.
Our reading corner. I am planning on blowing up pictures of my kids faces and putting them in some of the circles. This was an idea I found here.

This is an overall of one side of my room. I have to just comment on this awesome rug... An A-MAZING teacher at my school moved to 3rd grade and decided she would give it to me. I mean SERIOUSLY!?!?! Can you say amazing!?!? She just got it in January, so it is so bright and just like new. I LOVE it!

I will post some more pictures of a few more parts of my room as I get pictures of them. You know how the beginning of the year is - CRAZY, CRAZY, CRAZY! I know all us teachers have to do lists spread out all over every last inch of our classroom and it seems like they just grow by the second.
I can't wait to see pictures of all of your classrooms!

First time in First

Well, here it goes. I thought since I am in a lot of transitions this was a good time to transition over into the virtual blog world. I have been completely addicted to blog following for a couple of years now. I officially have a new job (1st grade) and am at a new school. I have taught 2nd grade for 3 years, but am excited about the journey that will begin in just a short week and a half with my new firsties! I know this year will be full of exiting and challenging things. Come along for the ride...
